The Story
Platinum retells Sinnoh's story bigger and stranger. The myths of time and space now have a third thread: Giratina, the renegade dragon banished to the Distortion World, a realm where gravity and direction barely apply.
Cyrus's scheme to remake the universe escalates further here, with the International Police's Looker adding a welcome dose of intrigue to the chase.
The Distortion World sequence is the series' boldest dungeon: a puzzle-box dimension of floating platforms and waterfalls that flow upward, ending in a confrontation with Giratina in its serpentine Origin Forme.
With both Dialga and Palkia summoned at the Spear Pillar and Giratina dragging Cyrus into its realm, the climax ties Sinnoh's whole mythology together — then Cynthia waits at the League, as merciless as ever.
Good to Know
- Fantina is the 3rd gym in Platinum (unlike Diamond/Pearl), so bring a Ghost or Dark counter to Hearthome early.
- The Vs. Seeker remains essential — Sinnoh's EXP curve is still slow, and rematches are the fix.
- Giratina's Origin Forme debuts here; the Griseous Orb found in the Distortion World powers it up.
- The Battle Frontier unlocks after the League, so keep a deep, well-trained roster rather than a team of six.
After the Credits
- Tackle the Battle Frontier: five facilities including the Battle Factory, Battle Hall, and Battle Castle.
- Rematch powered-up gym leaders at the Battleground in the Survival Area.
- Investigate Stark Mountain with Buck to encounter Heatran.
- Migrate Pokémon from Gen III via Pal Park, and revisit the Distortion World for Giratina's Griseous Orb.
