The Story

You've moved to the fashion-forward Kalos region, where your journey weaves through grand cities and quiet villages collecting eight gym badges — and where you'll be among the first trainers to wield Mega Evolution, a temporary battle transformation powered by the bond between trainer and Pokémon.

Looming over Kalos is Team Flare, villains obsessed with beauty who are secretly siphoning power for their leader Lysandre's ultimate weapon — a 3,000-year-old device tied to the tragic tale of AZ, the ancient king who once used it.

The weapon's firing awakens Kalos's legendary Pokémon — Xerneas in X, Yveltal in Y — and the climax sees you storming Team Flare's headquarters to stop Lysandre before he remakes the world in his image.

With Kalos saved, the Pokémon League awaits: four Elite Four members and the movie-star Champion Diantha, whose Mega Gardevoir is one of the generation's most famous boss fights.

Good to Know

  • The Exp. Share is a key item you can toggle — leave it on and your whole party stays levelled with zero grinding.
  • You get Mega Lucario and its Mega Stone in Shalour City — it can carry you through the mid-game while you build your team.
  • Pokémon-Amie (petting and minigames) gives affection bonuses: extra EXP, more critical hits, and surviving fatal blows.
  • Fairy type is brand new in Gen VI — it's super effective against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting, and immune to Dragon. A Fairy type trivializes several late-game fights.
  • Wonder Trade your early-route duplicates — you'll often get surprisingly good Pokémon from other players.

After the Credits

  • Looker Bureau: a full post-game detective sidequest in Lumiose City tracking down the remaining Team Flare scientist Xerosic.
  • Battle Maison: the battle facility for win-streak challenges in single, double, triple, rotation, and multi formats.
  • Friend Safari: add friends' Friend Codes to unlock safaris with hidden abilities and a boosted shiny rate.
  • Legendary hunts: track down Mewtwo in the Unknown Dungeon and Zygarde in Terminus Cave, plus daily events around Lumiose.
